Applying Draft Changes#
FlightPath uses a draft-data system for degree, course, and group changes.
This allows authorized users to make changes without immediately changing the data being used by students and advisors.
Draft vs. Live Data#
When you create or edit:
- Courses
- Elective groups
- Degree plans
the changes are initially saved as draft data.
The changes do not become active for students and advisors until the draft data is applied.
This provides an opportunity to review changes before making them live.
Applying Changes#
When you are ready to publish your degree-data changes, go to the Admin Console.
At the bottom of the page, select Apply draft changes.
FlightPath will display a confirmation form and request the Admin Draft Changes password. This password is configured by administrators in the system settings.
Enter the password and select Submit.
FlightPath will process the draft data and make the changes live. The process may take a few moments.
Before Applying Changes / Using Draft Mode#
Because applying draft changes makes your changes live, review the changes before proceeding.
You can enter “Draft Mode” by going to Admin Tools -> Toggle Draft Mode. Once Draft Mode is enabled, use the Degrees section to view “blank degrees” as you have set them up in draft.
Please verify:
- The correct catalog year was edited.
- Courses have the correct hours and repeat settings.
- Elective groups contain the intended courses.
- Degree plans contain the intended courses and groups.
- Requirement types and minimum grades are correct.
- Changes intended for a future catalog year have not accidentally been made to the current catalog year.
Important: Applying draft changes is a publishing operation. Do not apply draft changes simply to test an edit.
